Two cars in one name

Rang my insurance company. Won't price for a second car in my name with my daughter on a provisional. They say because the new policy is now without a no claims bonus their rules mean no quote. Is there any point in going to other insurance companies to try and get a quote ?

Yes, of course.
But you can only use your no claims discount on one of them.
Sorry Red Onion, you and I are having a good old time responding to comments!
While I respect your view, I have two cars, each with their own policy and successfully had the NCD mirrored on the second car. I argued a case that the car did not earn the NCD but the driver. This was accepted and my 5 Yr NCD was applied to the new policy.

@Nordkapp
Do you mind saying which insurer that was with? I have a list that refused to do it for me.

It looks to be irrelevant in the OPs scenario, but might be helpful to others.

Interestingly I've seen the opposite situation occur - person with 2 policies. Made a claim on 1, but the NCD on 2nd policy was unaffected at renewal, because NCD was linked to policy.
