Jimmy Deenihan (Minister for Arts) has proposed turning College Green into a cultural square to rival St Marks, Times Square, Trafalgar etc, and in time for the 1916 anniversary. The Bank of Ireland (Aka the Great financial Satan) isn't too keen on givin up it's landmark building though. Jimmy isn't for turning. He wants to build an "Irish Smithsonian" in the heart of Dublin. Assuming you could remove BOI's grubby mits from the old parliment building it's a great idea. What do you think?
As an aside, and airing a personal bugbear, why is the lovely Capel Street bridge painted a minging green? This would be lovely in black and gold. It's probably the nicest old bridge in the city, what gives with the awful colour?
