Tumble Dryer Recommendations

Am thinking of getting a tumble dryer and looking for recommendations. Have no experience of using these whatsoever and wonder if anyone has bought one lately and can recommend. Or are they worth getting at all.

It will be going in a tiny little utility room off the kitchen that already has the washing machine and boiler. There is a tiny vent in the room, but it is not going to let out much steam.

Any recommendations on brands would help as well. Not on a budget as such, but would like to get the most labour saving one, ie self cleaning filter, anti creases, etc.
 
I don't have one at the minute but my mother has a bendix trinty one which she is very happy with. It's a condenser and she reckons they are much better than the vents.

In relation to anticreasing - this is only an issue if you put in clothes which were left sitting in the machine for too long afterwards (as far as I know).

I hate not having one - especially for towels. I have to iron more now whereas with the tumble dryer, ironing is reduced imo.
 
+1 on the condensor being better, especially for the space you describe. Ci have a Zanussi which judges when the clothes are dry so it's much more energy efficient, have it nearly 4 years now and delighted with it. It has different options of 'dryness', e.g. Ready to wear, iron dry, store dry, slightly damp etc., I find it much more efficient than my previous one where I was guessing the time needed.
 
I dont know what put it into my head when I woke up this morning that I needed a tumble dryer when I never thought of getting one previously (must have been the overflowing washing basket)

Had to get a condensor one as not interested in vents, etc. Narrowed it down to a Bosch one and a Miele one. Was going to go for the Miele but it was a B rating where the Bosch was an A rating. The Miele version in an A rating was almost 1,600 so that was a bit too much. So have ordered Bosch and it will be delivered next week.

Whirlpool condenser

hi there, just to add - make sure you hang your clothes on a line for a day (summer) or more (winter) before putting them into the dryer. this is a big mistake people make which costs them dearly. i dry my clothes on a washing line outdoors (april - october) when weather permits and indoors otherwise. when they are dry i air them in the dryer for about 15-20 mins. it saves a fortune on the electricity bill.

i use the above machine which i find good. i start my drying at mark 120 as it takes only 5-10 minutes to dry. the lower settings (30 - the iron sign) are a farce in my eyes, just a waste of electricity as the clothes come out cold and more or less the same.
 
Was going to go for the Miele Condenser but it was a B rating as opposed to an A Rating for energy that the Bosch has. There was a Miele with an A rating but at 1,600 it was almost double the price of the Bosch one.

I just checked and the Bosch condeser one has the sensor control and self cleaning filter and short program for small loads of up to 2kg. It is advertised as the most efficient on energy use in the world. We shall see.
 
I bought [broken link removed] Electrolux about six weeks ago. It's pretty good, though maybe not as good a s the Hotpoint vented dryer I had previously. Surprisingly, it came with a 5 year parts AND labour guarantee.
