Back again with another query. Does anybody know if TRS is granted on Permanent Health Insurance (as opposed to Health Insurance) and, if so, in what year was it introduced? Thanks again.

Definitely no TRS available but if memory serves, a few years ago there was relief at the marginal rate of tax for it.

I can't recall any changes to this but I stand to be corrected.

Yes it is granted on it,not sure when it was introduced..You can claim it back through revenue if yur employer dosent automoatically do it

i dont think there is such a thing as TRS on PHI.(as there is on health ins) However if you pay it through your salary than you are receiving the tax relief through your salary as your employer should be deducting it from your gross salary and thereby reducing your taxable income. If you dont pay through your salary than contact your local tax office and they will advise what they need to process refund. remember its restricted to certain % of your income and refunds only issued from 2006 onwards. revenue will advise on all this
