Tribunals - was it a clever, devious, cunning vague brief ..

Would the panel not agree that the daily rate for the legal snouts in the trough ..outrageous though it might be .. is not the real matter, rather the problem is one that us consultants have known for ages....

If your client gives you a vague brief ..scope creep is what we call this ..and is paying you the agreed daily rate ..keep the head down and keep going!

The villians are those that wrote briefs that were so vague, that they allowed any direction to be taken what so ever ...

could it be that the one that Haughey called '..the most devious..the most cunning..the cleverest of them all..' encourged the widest posible brief ..knowing that the lawyers would succumb by looking up every tree in the country ..and we know the successful results looking up trees brings!

RE:Tribunals - was it a clever, devious, cunning vague brief

You are very cynical and could well be very right!

cya?

from a similarly cynical point of view, if way back when, you were setting up a system to investigate corruption, but could potentially be implicated your self (or colleagues), it seems like tribunals are a good solution to dragging out conclusions (and eventual convictions?) for as long as possible....

Re: cya?

Cynical !

Gosh no, but the 'cleverest, the most cunning and the most devious of them all' has a track record....

showing Albert Reynolds the voting card for the FF nomination as President....

telling the Labour Party in a whinge that he was against the Tax Amnesty ... and then proposing it..

and .. we will have no public service 'change' while he is there ..

Legal Fees

Crikey .. why is nobody agreeing with this analysis?

Vague brief sounds spot on to me. Lets execute a few politicians

Legal Fees

The high daily rate is not the fault of the legal people.
They were asked what they wanted and "De most cunning...most devious....cleverest of dem all" who is reknown as a brilliant negotiator, decided that since he had dragged us from being a 3rd world country, it would be impolite to haggle.
Mind you, the scandal of such high fees might just bring about the end of the Tribunals.Who needs them anyway? Whats wrong with just getting the odd politician to look up every tree to sniff out corrupt behaviour?
