Tree that grows quickly for wood burning stove?

I wondered before about the idea of burning waste wood / pallets.

The thing that put me off is the idea that you are not burning virgin timber, you are burning processed wood. I guess, but I may be wrong, that these are treated with preservatives? Maybe not the cheap disposable ones I suppose.

Some of them are painted tho, again maybe not the cheap disposables.

Anyway, if its not virgin timber I know that burning it will give off dioxins into the general environment, and also into the specific environment of your front room (esp true for an open fire).

Or am I way off here?

I spoke to Coillte Guy and he said to stay away from Willow as it was no good and to try Ash/Hazel (takes 15 years minimum) Also SRC Willow is only used as pulp not as logs.

It put me right off the whole idea, anyone know a tree that grows relatively fast and that you can get good enough logs from?

just planted 120 ash 120 hazel and 60 oak.
Aiming to get a years fuel from thinnings in about 5-7 years. but thats only guessing.
I think ash and hazel are indeed the best for fuel burning.
we plan between now and then to get a load of logs delivered a year and to invest in a chainsaw.
