Dear All

I have recently discovered that my company has changed travel insurance provider and it appears as part of the cover my wife and I will be covered when traveling privately together i.e. not while I am traveling on company business, (the wording on the policy suggests she is only covered when traveling with me).

This is not something I was made aware of at the time and only assumed my company travel insurance only covered me while I was on company trips away.

I am trying to find out now if this is a benefit in kind and can I be taxed for it?
With the cheap cost of travel insurance I think we would be better off taking out our own private policy at least then if my wife has to travel without me she will have some coverage.

If I have proof that we are paying our own travel insurance can I still be liable for BIK on this?
Is there such a thing as BIK on travel insurance? I can't seem to find anything relating to this.
