I am on transitional pension 65 to 66 yrs, do I have to re-apply for my pension at age 66 years or is it automatically changed over? It takes the pensions office about 3 month to reply

Transition pension automatically becomes State Pension (old age pension) at age 66
You do not need to do anything.

Don't forget to apply for your Household benefit Package at age 66
Free travel comes automatically also at age 66

Thanks for the reply. For information. I Just got word from Citizens Advice, they sent me a link to two forms that I have had to fill in. One for the Benefit package and one for Free Travel. (that was news to me after a year of enquiries)

The Transitional to Retirement is automatic as you say, but if you have class "S" contributions they do not count for Transitional Pension but they do count for Contributory Retirement at 66, and could effect your average contributions.
I must re-apply but not sure how to at present, because I have class S and low on average contributions.

As previously stated I am on Transitional Pension. I will be 66yrs in 4 weeks. I have just received a text from State Pensions: “Your claim for pensions has been received. A decision will be notified to you within 8 weeks”.
What does this mean ? will my Transitional stop until they notify me ?

Your current rate of pension will continue until a decision is made on your Old age (State pension contributory). Any adjustments will be made to your payment then with arrears (if applicable).
It's most unusual to apply for Free travel as you are already on pension but perhaps the CIC were being extra careful

Thanks Black Sheep. One other question. My wife will be 66 May next, I believe her entitlement goes up From €153.50 to €206.30.
Do I have to inform them or apply?

This should happen automatically as you would have filled in her details (including date of birth) on the original application form
