Tranfer of Shares

Hi all,

First time posting to askaboutmoney

My uncle passed away 10 years ago but had no will so my dad who was his only sibling inherited his estate that included some land and cash. My uncle also owned some Glanbia shares but these were not fully transferred to my dad at the time of the probate process – not sure why. My dads name has been included on the share ownership forms and has been receiving the small amount of dividends and quarterly share portfolio reports. My dad now wants to sell these shares but after contacting the Glanbia share administrator “Computershare” they have indicated that the shares need to be fully transferred now into my dads name before any sale can take place. What is the process of getting these shares transferred into my dad's name.
The original share certificates have also been mislaid and my dad is in the process of requesting new certificates as I presume these will be required to complete the transfer process?

Thanks for any advise
