It seems the old thread titled "Legal apprenticeship: any tips on trying to find a trainee solicitor job" has been shut down. I know this has been a lifeline for me and judging from the posts for many others too. Just knowing other people are in the same situation as me has kept my spirits up, especially with PFO's that seem to be going out this year! I'm hoping this thread can replace that one or if people know of any other threads on other forums please post the link here.

On another note has anyone ever done an interview with Dillon Eustace because I have no idea what to expect!

Likewise Lam. This thread's a great support so I'm glad it's up and running again.

Best of luck with the interview - unfortunately I've no experience of Dillon Eustace so nothing to offer you there!

Thanks for getting this thread up and running again.

I have an interview with A&L coming up - does anyone have any advice? What sort of questions do they ask? Anything at all would be great, I'm sick from a trachea infection and can barely think about the interview but must keep going!

I realise that I am too late for this round of interviews but can anyone tell me when do you start applying of jobs? Is it Sept, 2009???

Also delighted this is back up and running as the fight is still not over! (for trainneeships not whatever rant was going on that necessitated the removal of the thread!).

As for timeframes - I wasn't planning on sending out any CV's for this intake (September 2009 b'hall) as I think firms might just look at my CV and think I must be bats to think they'd be taking a trainee on in this climate. However for the 2010 intake - perhaps you are right with applying in September 2009 - however everything (well a lot at least) depends on the economic climate of Ireland. Doubt there will be an onflood of work by September so firms might not bother looking at trainees then and may wait until the following February 2010 to start looking. It's all a very vague game with a lot depending on luck and unseen variables which are constantly changing (bit of a wishy washy sentence but that's pretty much a theme with this whole trainneeship hunt!).

However - what are people's thoughts on getting into blackhall this September - leaving out the top 10 firms in Dublin? Is anyone applying to all the other small firms around Ireland? I'm guessing that these firms will not be taking anyone on but this would result in around 200 (max!!!) in blackhall in Dublin - all coming from the top 15 firms in Dublin - that would be some sight!! (It would also leave the number of applicants applying for 2010 to be ridiculous!!!)

Im really happy this thread is back up again, it's been such a useful source of information over the last few months. Its brilliant! Have interviews with A&L and Dillon Eustace coming up, but have no idea of what either of them are like. Has anyone done an interview with these firms before?

Also has anyone heard anything from BCM Hanby Wallace?!

Please do not reopen closed threads.

The mods simply do not have time to deal with threads which descend into the rubbish that the last thread descended into.

Thanks

Brendan
