Hey all im a near part qualified accountant but i currently work in undustry and and thinking on moving to practice as i feel thats where i want to be...

Anyone any idea what level/ salary id be going in on?

Im currently on a good wage her and im worried that im going to start off on an unlivable amount of money!

Any ideas>

Why not wait until you are qualified before moving...Much more options then

Im under the impression if i want til qualifiedm il still have to start at the bottom in practice as i wont have any experience. Exams or not i wont be able to prepare accounts!

Im just worried about how low wages go! Its omething i want to do- but at the same time- I still have a mortgage etc

Do recearch before any move.

Many practices are known for poor money and long hours. Offering zero opportunity for progression.

I am sure you will be able to prepare accounts when you are qualified!!

Either way if you moved in to practise there would be managers and partners to take you through the transition as it is a different mind set to industry.

If you try and apply to one of the big 4 you will get a reasonable salary and once your qualified it will be a very good salary but be prepared to work long hours - sometimes very long hours.

Hi,

What level of exams are you at? You are not totally wet behind the ears so you can negotiate a bit. I moved form industry to practise during my training, I was doing Professional 1 exams with CPA when i moved and went from 28k to 23k.

Yeah 28-23 is not to bad however i am on a very good wage for my job and age at the moment so to drop to 23 would be like 1/2 my wages so its going to be extremely difficult to manage however it is something i want to do.

Not having much luck in the practice job front though- is there specific agencies etc its best to go through to locate a job.

Im sitting the final 2 exams in part 2 of ACCA this june- so im be moving onto the last level in Sept. No one seems to want me though :(

Send your CV directly to the Big 4 - Do you know anyone in there who can tell you if they are looking at that level?

If so get them to ask around.

They may have some recruitment bans on at the moment - I know E and Y have an overtime ban unless it is pre approved

Well i got nothing from p w they said they had nothing But i do know someone who works in D so il try there see if i can get past the first line of poatage and actualy get my CV to someone who can look at it properly.
