Tracker mortgages

Just wanted to see if anyone could tell me anything about tracker mortgages? Are they better/safer than variable?
Currently being offered a tracker mortgage with a rate of about 3.3% from BOI through a broker. That sounds good to be but I'm not sure if there are disadvantages with going with thiis type of mortgage?

Any advise would be much appreciated!
 
Welcome to AAM. Have you browsed/ this forum for the many existing threads on tracker (versus standard variable and fixed) rates?
