Tracing bank lodgements?

Title sounds a bit dodgy but couldn't think how else to put it. Am doing my tax returns and there are quite a few lodgements in my account that I can't match against my invoices so just want to double check them. My bank statements give nothing but a number and an amount and some of these are going back 18 months so I'm just wondering if the banks will (relatively easily and inexpensively) tell me who lodged/transferred what to my account.

I can of course call the bank in the morning but had put this evening aside to do my taxes so if anyone knows I'd be very grateful.

Yes the bank will be able to give you more details on the transactions but depending on the amount of transactions you're querying you may well incur a charge and the charges may be added on per query.
