Would appreciate someone telling me total taxes payable on the following income of a married couple from Jan 1,2019 both aged between 55 and 60.

Spouse 1 working Gross Salary €12,000 (working 1 day a week). No other income.

Spouse 2 not working with the following income:

Invalidity Pension €10,582
Work public service pension € 9,900
Work private sector € 3,000 (available to draw down early due to illness so just taking 4% of pot.

Thanks in advance.

Add the four incomes.

Apply 20% tax.

Deduct your tax credits.

I'll have a go later.

Thanks Protocol.
Not sure what credits are due with one working and one not.
If you get a chance later please do.
Thanks.

Married tax credit is 3,300 for a start.

Then the PAYE tax credit, 1650 each, but I'll have to check that later.

Hi Protocol,
One working and one not working does this mean just one PAYE tax credit of €1650 applies.
Thanks

Both spouses can claim the paye credit.

It is available for pension income and salary ..

Sp 1 =12k
Sp 2 = say 24k

Total = 36k
Tax at 20%= 7,200

Less credits 3,300
Paye * 2 =3,300

Net tax 600 payable

Less any paye deducted from salary or pensions

Yes, the PAYE tax credit is allowed against pension income.

But note that if one spouse had just 6,000 income, then would be given just 1,200 PAYE tax credit, not the full 1650.
