Hi all,

Took voluntary redundancy package from a company about 6mths ago. Company advised at time of taking package that I could not apply back to company for at least 12mths. Have been seeking employment and have been offered a contractor temporary position with an agency for the company I used to work for. Can someone tell me if I can take this job as I will not be working for the company from which I received redundancy from but will be working in it.

Thanks in advance

I have a friend who did this and once the company found out that he had previously worked for them and taken voluntary redundancy they made him leave the contracting position. He hadnt hidden this fact but i think once this was pointed out to someone somewhere in management they made him leave.
it was a big company and the contract was in a different town to his original position.

it should have been outlined in the T & C's of the redundacy package,

industry norm is that you could return as a contractor after 6 months,

check the details of the redundacy package,

best of luck,

Happens quite regularly in the largest software company in the world headquatered in Sandyford. I don't see why the company would have a problem with it provided they are informed.

Is the time period in this example not driven by legislation? i.e. it's not a 'valid' redundancy if the position is refilled within a certain period (I thought 12 months)?
