Hi, Not sure if this is correct place to post so apologies if its not.
Rented a house last Novemeber....paying rent fine, no problems landlady very nice...knock on door 3 weeks ado local auctioneer to inform us the house is for sale..gave us a copy of solicitors instructing him to handle the sale on foot of a conveyancing order in a circuit court last October.

Landlady first says she was thinking of selling house...will revert back to us.

Auctioneer says we have 35 days to move out or we can accommodate viewings of the house and offered us a lower rent if we do so.

We cancelled the standing order to landlady, rent was due few days ago. she contacted me and said if we don't pay she will evict us immediately, I asked her re legal status of house she said its her as a result of divorce settlement and her ex is playing silly games...

Wondering should I contact a solicitor myself as im not sure who do I listen to...bottom line we cant afford any other property in the area as we are stretched to afford that one now.

Contacted auctioneer again to ask him should we pay orig landlady he said he would ask the solicitor but they didn't come back to me since

You should contact http://www.threshold.ie/advice/
to find out how to secure your rights as a Tenant, and point you in the right direction.
The court has'nt ordered you to do anything so you should pay your rent as normal and keep all documents.
Depending on your tenancy status ,you have certain rights which must be dealt with by whoever owns the house.

I think you should write to the landlady and copy it to the auctioneer and his solicitor, along the following lines:

You are both claiming rent.
It is not clear to me to whom the rent should be paid.
I have paid the rent into the following bank account until this matter is cleared up.
(open a separate bank account for the purposes and send a copy of the statement to them).
Would whoever is legally entitled to the rent please send appropriate evidence of this to me as soon as possible.
