Timeframe of contacting company re: job application

What would be a reasonable time to give a company to look at your CV etc for a job applicaiton?

I am so eager to find out if I have been successful for interview or not.

I would say two weeks for a follow up call.

That said I'm of the opinion that if a company wants you, they'll ring you. No harm in doing a check, in case your application was mislead and to give them a nudge. But some people think theres a secret test to see if applicants are really interested by waiting for them to ring. Personally I have no interest in working with anyone who plays such stupid games.

Did you get an acknowledgement of your application/ CV. If not I would give them a quick all. If there are a large number of applications short listing may have to be done which can take time.
