Three bulbs blown in one week

Three bulbs have blown in one of our floor lamps over the last week. It's been fine for years but now anytime we put a new bulb in it last between a few hours to a day and then goes. Wrecking my head, we're just using the main light now, but want to get the floor lamp back working.

Anyone any ideas?? Just surprised it's starting to happen now, was always fine before.

Check the wiring in the lamp. If you don't know how to do it get an electrician in.

sounds like you may have a dodgy neutral (maybe mouse chewed or something!)

Is it possible that you bought the bulbs in the same batch and that they were faulty,it has been known to happen.

Thanks guys, John Martin, no, one was one of those long life bulbs which we hadn't had that long and the other two were normal bulbs, bought separately. My husband had a look at the plug and did something with the neutral as dgobs mentioned, and it seems to be working ok now but we haven't had it on properly yet, will see how it does later when it gets dark.

thanks for the suggestions.
