Thinking of becoming a driving instructor

i've been thinking of this for a while and am going to move on it, i se the irish school of motoring do the course, but give no price. i have a dj business but it would be nice to do something during the day. at the moment i'm in the civil service and after today and all the messing with the trains i want out and i feel this is the way to go, so any help would be great.

The RAC also run a course.

But Im pretty sure there are no formal qualifications required to be a driving instructor. Just get the insurance and a dual control car.

I looked into this a fw months ago. ISM require you to do a drivers instructor course which cost about €1000. RAC hire out their cars per week. ISM pay €17 per client/hr that they send you (I think). You might think of doing it by yourself seeing that most instructors are charging €28-30/hr. Hope it helps.

yeah i'll do the course which helps with insurance in the long run, i'll do it by myself and not under their umbrella. i'll buy a car and get the dual controls fitted.

i'm looking to make my salary in my current job after petrol, insurance, car and tax.....but the cost of the car will be put over 3 or more years so it shouldn't be a problem if i get my name out there and provide a good service.

i'm in a position to cover 3 counties and hope to train another driver if i can build the business.

as i said i am only looking to cover my current salary, have another business also but its night time work and won't get in the way of this.

and if you are done for speeding or drink driving you can claim that your passenger was driving...

I think if you are a driving instructor you may consider changing your car every year.

1) You will be doing some serious mileage
2) Good sales tool, people like new cars, it will be clean, less likely to break down etc
3) Could save you money if you do a deal with a local dealershp and refer business their way.
