I was a bit distracted in there today, gathering a few bits, just a topup shop.

Having had a couple of extractions, the blood was dribbling out go the corner of my mouth and because of the anaesthesia, I didn't notice. A very kind employees discretely drew it to my attention with proferred tissues. While I made myself more presentable, she checked my few bits through the self-service till I was at and packed my bag for me. All I had to do was present the auld card and she even placed the receipt I said I wanted in my bag.

I din't get her name, but I'll be phoning Tesco HQ as soon as my mouth works properly again. Charge me a tenner for a litre of milk, it doesn't matter, humanity does.

Thank you Tesco Angel.

The moral of the story is to brush you teeth and floss and get regular checkups.

Point taken, but what'll bring customers back is stuff like what that lady did for me today. According to my meticulously maintained data-bank of expenditures, I hadn't been there in almost five years. Getting a parking space and having to pay for it can make shopping there an awkward proposition, with a vigilant crew of wardens of the LA payroll.

It's not all about margins and footfall, revenue per customer or employee or square metre of floorspace, it's the human touch. I'll be back, as someone once said, if I'm in the vicinity. My dentist is just around the corner and I clocked a handy parking spot as I was getting out of town.
