In general, what is the responsibilities a Landlord has to a tenant after there has been a flood in an apartment due to a burst pipe (from the mains into the washing machine)?
While I was away my apartment flooded - and the management agent had to enter and rip up all the carpets (in every room) and install dehumidifyers. As of now I am currently living out of a friends place, but that can only be short term, The apartment needs gutting and refurbishment now - and with some outstanding tasks from pre-flood needing to be completed (new gas boiler etc).
Thankfully none of my personal items were damaged - but what is the standard practice/regulations that apply now?
Does the Landlord need to provide equivalent alternate accomodation?
Do I stop paying rent for the period of disruption?
Should there be a reduction if accomodation is provided for the inconvienence?
