Tenants commonly called Renters, should Landlords be called Owners?

With landlords/landladies only the male version seems to be used, 'renter' is gender neutral. It's an archaic term on that basis, if you convert it to 'Landperson' it doesn't really work, which just highlights the flaws in the term and the reliance on the word 'lord' and all that entails, inequality, imbalance of power etc.
In landlord and tenant law, property law, etc, "landlord" is a gender-neutral term. Landladies operate pubs or boarding houses, but women who rent out land or buildings are (and always have been) landlords.

Yes, the term is widely used in the US based on the legal history so perhaps it is not archaic. There is just a lot of stigma around it- something like 'Homelessor' sounds nice and friendly but that would probably also become a more pejorative term after a bit of media coverage. (Short for Homeless or Pay Me)
