Hi I currently work for a manufacturing company and have been on a three day week since june 08. No problem with that as we have all seen the reduction in business.
However at every holiday period the 5 of us on
production and only the production crew have been laid off for extra weeks. For example we only returned to work after last christmas break in the middle of feb. The same happened during the summer and it seems like the same is going to happen this christmas.
While we are forced to take our extended breaks the rest of the company (managment, sales and dispatch) aprox 15 people altogether still enjoy five day weeks. When we look for a fairer deal we are told thats the fairest they can be.
Is this legal or is there any route we can take to reverse what we deem to be a very unfair situation.
