I am wondering if anyone can help.
I have spent the last 14 months as a temporary employee. Last month i was given a permanent contract which was dependant on passing a medical. I have since passed the medical and was given a start date.
Two days ago the company announced that they were downsizing from three to two shifts. This meant that all temporary workers would be released. I thought that this would not affect me. I was called into the shift leaders office and subsequently told that unfortunately my contract had been retracted and my start date of November 1st was no longer being given. All other temp employees are being released at the end of the month. Can they do this once they have given me a contract.
