As a new teacher paying superann for the 1st time in the last year, is there tax relief available on this or what? See a lot of ads saying a pension entitles you to tax relief, is this the case when it is taken at source and not something you set up?

Yes, all pension contributions of all types are entitled to tax and PRSI relief.

Normally, your employer would deduct your contribution before calculating your tax on salary earned. If this is not clear from your payslip you could check with the school administration.
