Can anybody help me please.

I was offer a job but the recruitment agency said i have to set my self up as a Ltd company or sole trader. I have been looking all over the web looking for what tax rates and what tax i would pay as a sole trader or Ltd company, but cant find any sites with a straight forward answer. Its all new to me. can any body help please. I want to know if the wage im being offered is good. so i need to know what tax i will be paying.
I hope im making sense. :)

you would want to give a lot more details of your set-up, why wont they take you on directly? Are you going to work for a recruitment company or a company they got you in touch with?

What kind of service will you provide and will you have much cost?

Will vat have to be charged?

if going selfemployed/company- you want to be charging more than a paye wage to cover your costs

Re:Sole Trader & Ltd Company

The company that wants me has to get me through a recruitment agency, but the only way is that the recruitment agency takes me on as a contractor.
I wanted to set up a company offering services such as IT solution, Engineering/Arch Drafting, Destop Pulishing, Graphic deisgn Etc Etc. no products, just services. So i have to decide to become a sole trader or LTD company or use one these companys that sets all this stuff up for you and looks after your accounts etc, but charges a BIG fee.
Im very new to all this and im running out of time before my start date in new job.
Im very good with numbers.

can any body help which way to go about this.
cheers
:)

Re: Sole Trader & Ltd Company

on that salary its not worth setting up a Ltd Company or sole trader unless you get other work / clients, i would advise approaching CXC / Prima, do a google search on them, they provide accounting services as a propietary director of a ltd compnay, you shouldn't pay more than 20% tax. Pm me if you want advice.
