Both myself and my wife are PAYE workers and up until now have been assessed seperately as individuals. We recently received a note from Revenue enquiring if we would like to change our assessment to 'Joint' or 'Seperate' assessment or remain as we are. We are both top rate taxpayers and having read the Revenue guide cannot see any advantage in Joint or Seperate Assessment at the moment. Are we correct?

If you both pay tax at the rate, there is not financial advantage of being jointly assessed.
The only possible advantage of opting for joint assessment now, is that if your circumstance changed in the future, like one of you lost your job, you would be able to immediately transfer tax credits to the working spouse.
