I wonder if someone can advise what is correct procedure to account for disability benefit in excess of 6 weeks. We are employer and just had employee bring in balancing statement to review for her. I notice that there is amount of DSFA benefit which is amount of disability benefit taxable for the year. We would always tax disability benefit paid in excess of six weeks but after a call to revenue they say this is incorrect I wonder if someone can advise if this is correct? Thks

i take the revenue advice a lot of time with a pinch of salt. you could ring tomorrow and get a different answer.

if taking their advise get them to give you a link from them on website to back up what thet are saying

This is just so frustrating. IMO advice being given by the authorised government departments in such a negligent manner amounts to theft. If they are not trained for the job they should not be there. IMO you cannot trust the Revenue to advise you on your tax affairs. The Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners is always on about ring us and we will help you. You ring and then you get an answer like that. Whats that about? I am having a bad day. People getting paid and not doing their job!!
