Tax & Social Welfare payment

A friend who is a substitute teacher received jobseekers allowance during the summer holidays of 22. She has tried to make a tax return but the social welfare amount she received is not shown - it was in previous years. Somebody has told her that her tax credits must have been reduced and she does not need to put in the amount but she is concerned about doing that. Does anyone know if the rules have changed.
