Hi all

Could anyone clarify tax residency query.
I was in Ireland on job seekers for first 5 months of 2012.
I then signed off and left for Aus. I got work there for balance of 2012 after sorting visa. I paid tax in Aus on that employment.
I rented my house out in Irl for 2012.
I was sorting my tax out in Irl for rent on house with my accountant.
He said he needs my foreign income and tax details as I could be tax liable in Irl for that also.
Can anyone share there experience or knowledge on this?

Thank you.

.
If you have left Ireland and do not intend to return in 2013 then you should qualify for split year relief meaning your non Irish employment income is not taxed in Ireland.

Thank you for info.

So in essence I can pay my tax due on the rent received from renting my house out in Irl for 2012 to the Irish tax authorities as I had planned to do.
And then my paye in Aus deducted for work here is not relevant re Irish tax as tax is paid in Aus and I am still here working and staying for 2013 also.
