Hi, I am studying part-time for an undergraduate degree through the Open University. As it is part-time it will take 6-7 years to complete. I am aware that when claiming tax relief on postgraduate courses the upper limit for the course duration is 4 years when claiming relief, is there such a limit applied to claiming for undergraduate courses also? I can't find this information anywhere - and I can't get through to the tax office :)

It must be an approved course at an approved college - you can get lists from the Revenue

if you type the title of your post into google it brings you straight to the relevant page on revenues site.

that page says nothing about there being a maximum time for a part time course. however only 3 open university part time courses are included on the list of approved courses.

usually where revenue don't state something categorically (ie this course must be finished within x years) then it is kosher. so you should be okay.
