Hi,
I am purchasing an investment property in Croatia, and partly financing it through releasing some equity in my own home.

Can I count these mortgage payments as an expense to offset against rental income generated by the property, or is there any other way I can claim tax-relief on these mortgage payments ?

Yes.

You obviously can't claim TRS on this part of your mortgage so make sure you're not

Have you checked out the tax implications of renting a property in Croatia

Let me get this right HamSlicer.........Suppose I purchase an investment property abroad. Say I partially fund this property with an equity release from my PPR and partially fund it with a mortgage in the country of purchase..... I can offset both the intrest paid on my mortgage AND the interest paid on my equity release amount against tax??

Thanks in advance
