Tax-relief on Post-grad studies

Hopefully someone can help me with this. Has it always been possible to claim tax relief on post-grad studies or did the rules change on this a few years ago?
I did a one-year post-grad in UCD in 2005-6, costing approx 5000 euro.
At the time I understood that there was no tax relief on this amount, so I never claimed, though I could rush in a claim in the next day or 2 if I can find my receipt.
To complicate matters, I am also studying for another undergrad course which I'll do over the next few years with the OU. If I did put in a claim for the HDip, would this then mean that I wouldn't be able to claim relief on my OU fees over the next 6 or so years as I believe you can only claim relief on qualifications that are higher than your current one.
Thanks.

Tax relief can only be claimed for the last 4 completed tax years, so 2005 payments are about to become ineligible.
The rule change you're thinking of was a change to who could claim, it used to have to be family, that restriction was removed.

As regards claiming for a second undergrad course, I couldn't see a restriction mentioned here, but I'd ring Revenue and check if it was me.

The main thing is that the course be a properly HETAC approved course.

It must be of at least two years duration

The relief only covers tuition fees. Registration fees do not qualify
