I'm having difficulty finding confirmation on Revenue.ie that tax relief on PHI contributions is at your marginal rate. Is this the case?
My OH recently submitted his Form 12 for 2009, which recorded that he paid €725 in PHI for the year. However, his P21 balancing statement he received for '09 gives him a tax credit of €145 for it (I think it's shown against 'medical insurance relief' or something like that on the P21), i.e 20%. Is there a chance that the PHI got confused with health insurance? He pays VHI through his salary, so he doesn't claim for it on the Form 12.
