I had someone (self employed) ask me if the rent they paid to house their son while at college was tax deductable/tax relief available. They seemed to think there was a scheme.
I've never heard of it, has anyone ???

are you maybe thinking of the relief for private rented residential accommodation scheme. There was a loophole here which was closed off earlier this year. Parents getting children to "Pay" rent while living at home and child getting the relief agains ttheir wages.
