I realise you can not get Tax Relief on the Registration fees which are approx 2k for an Undergraduate 3rd Level course. I have paid approx €4k on fees for a Masters and I though I would be able to claim all of this from the Revenue at the usual rate of 20% but I have now been informed by them that the first €2k of a Full time course and first €1k of a Part time couse would be disallowed. Is this somethink new? Did it come in the Budget or Finance Act I have to say I had never heard of this. I am assuming that my Masters if part time as I also work. Perhaps others were aware of this!

It's been in since last year IIRC, so it probably came in in the 2010 budget.

As regards the full-time / part-time distinction, it's irrelevant whether or not you are working while doing the course. If it's a Monday - Friday type course, which the college describes as full-time, then it's a full-time course.

If it's an evenings / weekends type course, which the college describes as part-time, then it's part-time.
