Tax refund process self assessed

Hi. I am jointly assessed with my husband. I was the assessable spouse in the past and never updated this. So, although I am PAYE and he is sole trader, I file the form 11s. Will rectify this shortly.
When filing and paying for 2020 yesterday I realised we had not been claiming the earned income tax credit for him. I claimed it in 2020 but now need to go and amend Form 11 for 2018 and 2019. We will be due the full 2,500 euro (holiday time!!) as we paid enough tax in those years to get the full benefit. My question is - if successful for adjusting for this error, how would the refund be made? Would Revenue refund us directly into our bank accounts? Would it be refunded through my PAYE? How would it work?

Thanks

My recollection is that it was refunded into our joint bank account.
If you are jointly assessed, then on the assumption that you have only one IBAN on record with Revenue, that's where it would go.

It is refunded by transfer once bank details are given, I don't think they issue cheques anymore.

Say something and get the truth, just got a cheque from Revenue stating they have no bank details eventhough registered on Ros, and they've been taking tax due since 2011. I mean

Went to bank, with cheque can't lodge it because in the last century we went jointly assessed when I got sick I applied for her to have all credits and extra bit of income at lower rate. Never an issue.

Our bank account since 1989 both names and her maiden name again no issues, Revenue was taking the LPT/and rental income tax from said same account for a decade.

Now because they sent a cheque in her unused married surname can't lodge the cheque unless I bring a marriage certificate, from 1994.

We appear to be going backwards.

They really make it difficult don't they! I didn't change my name when we got married so hopefully won't meet that stumbling block if they ignore my ROS bank deets and send a cheque. They've failed to acknowledge my payment for 2020 which clear left my account so they'll probably refund the wrong amount.

I used to do a deed of covenant thing for my dad, every year since there was a space for it I filled the bank details section of the form for the refund but every year he got a cheque in the post!

On ROS you have to add your bank details separately for each tax-head and also for refunds separately to payments.

Seems silly, but I know in my case the VAT goes out of the business account whereas the IT goes in/out of personal account.

So beacuse Revenue sent a payable order made payable to the taxpayer as shown in their records, they're somehow in the wrong?

Have you a mirror at home by any chance? If so, why not check whether it's still working.

Actually the vast majority of her tax via paye is under her maiden name, but additionally the Surname is incorrect. I have no problem with amendments but it has never been an issue for paying tax, LPT or RTSO, CGT liabilities.

We have multiple mirrors but they aren't much use dealing with the issue.

This is income tax the same tax that we have been paying for over a decade, they have the account details.
The LPT is also paid from the account and I only have to tell them that we pay all 3 by direct debit from the same account that they show on the renewal.

Its the lack of joined up processes, PPSNs are the same for every tax head ,just frustrated with it all. I didn't want them to send anything theres a CGT liability due, which is approximately the same amount.

You learn....

All taxes received are filed under the relevant PPSN, hence the taxpayer's name is immaterial. What is the name shown on the tax credit cert, because that's the registered name.

I just checked ROS and if you go into "Manage Bank Accounts" you will see there are separate sections for ROS Debit Instructions and Refunds, you will need to enter the bank account details in both.
