Hi,
I had a procedure done in Poland in 2007 to correct some damage due to childbirth. Does anyone know whether I would qualify for tax relief on this? I know it's late to be asking but I'm sure I could get a letter from the company if necessary. Thanks in advance!!! :)

There should be no problem in claiming tax relief IMO

Just make sure you get a receipt in case of future Revenue query

Thanks for both replies. It seems to be a pretty gray area. The revenue website and forms dont specify as to whether or not I could claim on elective surgery. I think that if my claim was investigated I would have a decent enough case. I also found an article from the Irish Medical Times which would support the fact that I'd be entitled to claim for 2007 surgery..

Revenue will allow a claim for surgery where it is to correct a defect

eg - laser treatment for short-sightedness

So if the surgery is to correct "damage due to childbirth" then again I would see no problem with it.
