Tax on overseas land sale

20 years ago I inherited land/property overseas. It was worth little back then but everything in total is worth a substantial amount today. On completion of sale, how would I bring the money back to UK? What taxes would I be liable to pay? Taxes have/will be paid overseas to cover the last twenty years. What loopholes can I take advantage of, if any?
