Tax on Investment Property

Hi their,

I will have Tax due for 2012 on an investment property, I am a PAYE employee. I know their is a pay and file deadline for 31st Oct for your previous tax year.

For a PAYE employee do I
1. pay my 2012 tax this year?
2. pay my 2012 tax 31st Oct 2013?

Can I pay this tax before 31st December 2012?

From what i can tell it is a pretty easy P&L and I can pput the P&L together without the help of an accountant. To submit to revenue is this is very easy via their new on line system as a PAYE employee ?

To add to this, can some confirm if the Oct 31st 2012 deadline, is this the deadline to have the 2011 tax return filed and paid or the deadline to have 2012 tax return filed and paid??

If you have other income such as rental then you aren't simply a personal PAYE taxpayer.

First thing you need to do is establish which is the correct tax return to file. If your non-PAYE income is less than 3,174 then it's form 12, which is a form for PAYE taxpayers with other income. You can't do this online.

Otherwise you need to register for self-assessment, and complete a form 11 (or form 11e or form 11s), or you can file online via ROS (not the same system as the PAYEanytime service). Personally I'd recommend filing online.

Oh, and don't forget to file for the last 4 years while you're at it...
