Hi Guys,
For the past six months I have been working as a temp with a recruitment agency, earning about €348 net per week after PRSI and the income levy have been deducted. I have not been paying PAYE as I don't think I earn enough to enter the standard tax bracket. I have now finished with the agency, and as I didn't take any holidays while I was with them, they have included 65 hrs of holidays in my final payslip. My gross pay for final week was €1080 including the holiday pay. However, I have paid a huge amount of tax on this - €228 in PAYE & €80 in PRSI which seems really unfair. If I had known that I was going to pay so much tax I would have insisted on taking holidays, however when I started with the agency I was told that due to the temporary nature of the job I wouldn't be able to take any holidays.
Is there any way I can claim any of the tax back? I am not married & my tax credit as a single person is €72 per week.
Thanks a million,
James.
