I am considering investing in the 21Shares Bitcoin ETP.

Can anyone confirm how any future gains on Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) are Taxed for Irish residents?

I note the numerous threads on here regarding Tax on Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).

Thanks in advance

It is an ETF - domiciled in Switzerland - where else :)

So it is probably taxed as an ETF but this would need to be checked with the Revenue as it might be in a class of its own

Has Revenue issued any guidance to date on the Taxation of this type of Exchange Traded Product?

Have you searched the Revenue website?

I imagine if they had published something, it would be there

There are thousands, if not, tens of thousands, of investment funds so I can't imagine Revenue have examined them all to classify each one

A quick search threw this up

and according to the PPRIP KID document how the 21Shares Bitcoin ETP is structured as a debt instrument

Yes I searched their website and seen the general guidance.

I appreciate there are thousands of types funds and products.

I will go on the basis of that guidance.

Thanks for your replies on this
