My wife, whom is a foreign national, bought 2 sites and 2 houses in her home country a few years before we met.
She is now considering selling them and depositing the money into her bank account here.
We are just wondering if she will be liable to pay any taxes here on said properties.
I am currently self employed and my wife is unemployed.
Thanks in advance.

You don't say enough.

- will she make a profit on the sale?
- If so, will the authorities in that country know she made a profit and charge CGT.
- Does the country have agreements with Ireland?
- Has your wife ever been emplpoyed ehre and is therefore recorded as paying tax, having a PPs etc ?

Obviously the most important question is no 1.

Hi oldnick.

Yes she will most probably make a profit on the sale.
Though not sure how much. She's just toying with the idea at the moment.

Yes the authorities will know she made a profit.

I'm not sure if there are any agreements in place between the two countries.

My wife has a pps number, but hasn't worked here yet.

I'm just wondering if she'd be liable for any tax here on any money she'd make on the sale.
