Tax-free allowance query

Hi,

I am currently taking my wifes tax free allowance as she is a 'stay at home mum'. However - recently she has been offered a couple of hours a day childminding whilst a friend does a fas course. The Fas course will pay a childminding fee direct to my wife of €38 p/w (her pps no. is required on form which goes back to Fas) Does anyone know if this will impact the tax-free allowance? Is there a certain amount that can be earned without impacting?

Yes- you can stil receive the full credit once her income is under €5080 per annum.

PS- this is called the home-carer's tax credit. Tax free allowances are no longer used in the Irish income tax system
