Tax Credits when out of work

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have not been working in Ireland since 2009. I have been out of the country caring for a relative, unpaid of course. I am about to recommence work in Ireland, my question is, will I be emergency taxed again or will my credits be as they were before I left?

If you have had no earnings in 2010 then your entire current year tax credits / SRCOP are available. However, Revenue may issue the cert on a Week 1 basis initially and you may have to request a year end review to access any overpaid tax. Then again , if you explain the situation properly at the start they may issue a cumulative cert and you would have the benefit of all your unused credits year to date immediately.
