Tax Credits for 2016

Quick question on tax credits.

For 2015 as I was over 65 I claimed exemption limits for over 65’s which gave me €36000 tax free and anything over that was taxed at 40%. ( I have another small pension which brings me above the €36000 limit) My wife was on dependent relative allowance which was deemed to be my income.

Jan 2016 she will be entitled to a contributory pension in her own right. Can I claim PAYE credits for myself and my wife for 2016 because we are both paid state pension, ie €1650 for myself and €1650 for my wife as we are both now paid separately?

Thanks in Advance

Under joint assessment you and your wife can claim the PAYE cr the married credit and the age credit.

€1,650 + €1,650 + €3,300 + €490.

Thanks Joe_90.
Just what I thought. Just needed to have it clarified. Will need to contact Revenue in the New Year so.

Again thanks for your help.
