Tax credit refund

Hi,

I will be leaving Ireland at the end of February and will be looking to apply for a refund of taxes, specifically unused tax credits. I've spoken to the revenue office before and although they were extremely vague, they confirmed that technically it is possible to get a refund of your unused tax credits for the year.

Before I go I'd love to get an idea of how much I might be receiving, so could I ask you to look over this and see if it's correct in theory?

Say my monthly tax credits (PAYE, Personal Tax Credit, Rent Relief and Medical Insurance Relief) are €300 and I'll be leaving at the end of February, does that mean I'll get €3,000 euros back as it will be 10 months of unused tax credits?

Any help is much appreciated!

You cannot get a refund of unused tax credits - you can only get a refund of overpaid tax

That Revenue official was incorrect

Alright, clearly I was misinformed... Thanks very much for clearing that up though!
