Tax Clearance the same as audit

Hi, I have to provide a tax clearance cert as part of an application. My wife and I are seperatley assessed. I note on revenue online that it states that as part of the process it looks at my "partners" affairs also. Would I have to supply all my wife's information? (even though we are seperatley assessed) Is the tax clearance process effectively bringing a Revenue audit on myself? For the record I have nothing to hide I am just thinking paper work. Thanks!

Tax clearance just means confirmation that the relevant person's affairs are up to date, returns filled and paid (or appropriate arrangements in place for payment of any arrears). It's a world apart from an audit and doesn't involve any paperwork as such, it's a largely automated process, "computer says yes" or "computer says no".
