Tax back after 6 months work

If you pay approx EUR 1200 in PAYE./PRSI tax on gross pay of 3000 per month, and you decide after 6 months (end June) to quit your job, are you entitled to some/all of the tax paid back at the end of the year?
eg. earnings of gross 17000 over 6 months with EUR 7200 tax paid on that gross amount (as spouse has most of the tax credits, jointly assessed, hence the high amount of tax paid on gross)?
also, if your monthly tax credit is 1400, how much could you expect to earn per month on a salary of EUR 18000 after PAYE tax/PRSI etc?

If you gave all your tax credits bar your PAYE tax credit to your spouse, then I can't see any huge tax refund,as that only converts to €8250 tax free.
By all means request a P21 balancing statement though,to be sure.
As to your second question,what do you mean by 1400 a month tax credit?

Hi thank you, this is really helpful. What I badly explained in point two was I have a PAYE tax credit only as spouse has the rest of my tax credits. In this case what would an estimated monthly net salary be based on a gross of Eur 18000pa?
