We are about to start plastering the house and the plasterer has asked me do we want to taper the walls before hand, will cost about an extra 600 euro with the aim of stopping cracks. Is this a good idea or a waste of money?
I would have thought it standard practice. But I could see how what was previously standard (good) practice has been dropped during the boom years, when the pressure was on to 'knock them up' as quick as possible.
BTW, you could do the job your self.
